So I've been playing the acoustic guitar for about 12 years and finally decided to get an electric guitar.

The guitar has three pickups and three nobs (volume and two tone knobs).

My problem is this: when I palm mute and pick notes, my pick hits the pickup which is basically in the middle, where I need to pick.

When I strum, my fingers (mostly pinky) end up hitting the top knob.

My main issue is trying to strum or pick a note/string and I hit the pickup.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this? I've tried to changed my palm mute position, but that doesn't help.

Thank you

Short of adjusting your picking position and method, you can try lowering the pickup. That's about all I can think to do though.

Ditch the Strat and buy a Les Paul.
