I've just been thinking, what if Anakin never decided to intervene with the mission to arrest Darth Sidious, leaving him to be killed by Mace Windu? Would the Clone Wars have continued on, given the Seperatist Council was never wiped out due to Anakin never falling to the dark side? What would've happened?

Discuss.

Well, Dooku was dead and Grievous was about to be, so the Sith leadership would've died out, which means that, given the Republic appeared to be winning when Order 66 was executed, would probably mean the Separatists would've surrendered within a year or two.

Sidious would have still annihilated him. He was holding back the entire time.

But remember though, that this would've happened before Order 66 was carried out. If Sidious was dead then nobody would have commanded the clones to attack their Jedi leaders.

Exactly. Hence, the surrender of the separatists.

No, Windu was about to kill Sidious before Anakin chopped his hand off. Anakin was all against killing him, I'm guessing he still felt remorse for Dooku's death.

Edit; ^"He's too dangerous to be left alive!" was Windu's response when Annie said he should be put on trial if memory serves.

Fun fact: It has been longer since Michael Vick won a game where he actually played(September 30th) than the last win for the Phillies(October 1st).

The exact point of the scene was that Windu was going to kill him because he would not be able to controll Palpatine for long. Anakin didn't want that.

No, because Anakin thought Palpatine had the key to save Padmé. Palpatine wouldn't be very valuable to him dead.

Yeah, he was holding back to make Anakin defend him, without Anakin there Sideous would just kill him with lightning.
#25
^Err, he already used his lightning before Anakin ever entered the room?

I haven't seen the movies in years and my memory serves better than fanboys, lol.
OT: It would've meant the end of the war and the galaxy would've known peace until another dark force made his introduction. Probably another sith lord, there are always jedi who fall to the dark side. The entire scene shows how weak Anakin and what a failure he actually is.
It's quite sad the most epic character is the wimpiest as well (Vader of course being the most epic).

Without a Chancellor, the Republic would have been in shambles. Anakin would have hated Mace for killing his mentor; by that time Anakin was already turned, so he would have killed Mace, took over the republic, executed Order 66, and Yoda vs Vader.

History fact: In World War II, FDR signed Executive Order 9066 and Japanese Americans were rounded up and sent to Internment Camps by the government. Executive Order 9066. Palpatine's words were "Execute Order 66". Lucas did his homework.

I'm pretty sure Jedi aren't supposed to kill outmatched opponents. Think of the beginning of Episode III when Anakin kills Dooku. He wasn't supposed to there because Dooku had no way to defend. When Obi-Wan killed Maul, it was within the fight. Plus, Darth Maul had just killed Qui-Gon, so I'm sure he wasn't completely emotionless.

Yeah but the thing is, it was in self defense, Maul was still armed and obviously was a threat to him, Dooku and Palpatine were both unarmed and helpless, so killing them would've been against the Jedi Code. That would explain why Luke refused to kill Vader on the second Death Star

Yea, that. Or, you know, the fact that he was his father.

The closest thing to a perfect Jedi that we ever see is Yoda. The rest have not nearly as much self-control.

Do you have to be here?

OT: Windu was already on the path to the dark side by the time he was 1v1 with Sidious. He wouldn't have cared to kill the guy. Also, Vaapad vs "UNLIMITED POWUR!!!" is a win for Windu.

Any Jedi would know that a Sith Lord is still dangerous without his light saber.

Dooku was helpless, yes, but only because he was...
