Jackson X series are good midrange guitars. Go for it.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with Basswood. Bodywoods effect on amplified sound is minimal at best, what matters more is the quality of the wood and how well the guitar is built.

Thats a beauutiful guitar. The demo looked pretty good. I'd give it a shot. I havn't played that exact model, but i really liked the rx i tried in my local shop.

I agree with MaaZeus. I've never owned (only played) some of Jackson's mid-range stuff, but I've found them to be pretty solid guitars and I know they enjoy a good reputation.
