hi guys im really sorry i don't know where to post this on UG but i know the community here is really nice and i was hoping you'd help me out...
Last night at 3am i heard a car screech through my street. then a minute later i heard it speed out. this morning my 2 best guitars were gone.
Please been on the lookout for a shecter damien diamond series 6 string
This one has autographs on it from black tide. The easiest one to spot is a heart with a G in the middle signed near the bottom of the body.

The other is a Jackson Warrior with the Floyd Rose bridge

both are black. I worked extremely hard for these guitars so please any kind of help would be beyond appreciated. Thank you guys for reading.

*EDIT*
Here's some pics of what to look out for. I was like 18 years old when these were taken so I look a bit corny lol. But please look out for that Schecter with signatures!

Sucks man.

You told your local guitar stores & pawn shops to be on the lookout?

Yup. Contact local guitar and pawn shops and give them a heads up. Even better if you have a photo to show about the easily spottable details like the autograph.

Tone is in the fingers.

What you really need is a new amp.

Well....as much as that sounds like it sucks, let me get this straight.

You were home, heard a vehicle and they stole these items from your house while you were in it?

Is that correct, or am I missing something?

Sorry mate. That really sucks.

Usually threads like these include pictures of said gear. You should get some pics up. Also keep your eye on craigslist. My guess is that if they try to sell this gear it won't be in Long Island. You need to expand your search for most of the NYC area. Additionally, you can use the Look Up link in my sig to search craigslist and such very easily. Also, post on this on some of the other forums (HCAF, Rig-Talk, etc).

But yeah, where was your gear located relative to where you were sleeping?

Good luck,

Correct. I got home at 12AM on the dot. 15 minutes later I heard a car screech in, but not the window breaking. Then like half a second later I hear the car speed away. It didn't even sound like it was in front of my house. I was astonished when I woke up this morning I knew I should have just looked out the window but I didn't. worst thing that's ever happened to me I worked so hard for those guitars.

Thanks for the quick search I've been checking every hour but like you said not just on Long Island. And also I doubt he'll just put it up today, unless he's some junky and needs cash fast. My gear was in the car when I was walking around the house. Just a mere 20 feet from my front window where the shades were closed. This guy was fast. In out, bam

Did they break in? Or go through an unlocked opening? I just wonder if they were already in when you showed up?

Seems odd.

Based on that statistically it's someone you know. I note I've been Ninja'd on that.

I doubt it. I just moved here and none of my friends have ever been to my house before. But I've been trying to think of someone that might have. and the person broke the window to get in the car, so i had to get my car cleaned and repaired. insurance covered that at least...

Really sorry bro, it's takes a real scumbag to take someone's instrument. If you're like me and get really attached to them.

From what I've learned... Avoid using cases/gigbags with logos on (i.e. Gibson USA in big letters is just asking to have it nicked), try not to leave stuff in your car whenever you can. I get way too paranoid of my stuff at gigs that someone will steal a pedal off the board or something.

+1 and i know what your going through brother, my mep amp and guitar were stolen off the stage a couple weeks ago by someone who was claiming to be "with the band" while me and my mates were smoking in the car on a break.

hope you have good luck man, it really sucking losing a guitar, their like peices of the family man

Personally I don't think a guitar or a TV is worth someone's life.

But I've gathered that's just a UK thing.

Relax, I am just kidding.

I think most people would hear you rack the shot gun and immediately shit themselves. Its an unmistakeable sound.

Problem here in the US is that everyone has guns. If someone breaks into your house and is either armed with a knife or a gun and decides no witnesses are better then its more than just your gear.

I have renters insurance and have my gear all listed if its worth more than $300. It can be replaced.

My life cannot be.

Yea I know you're kidding.

It's just a completely different world to us here. And I do respect the greater statistical percentage that you're more likely to be injured if you bring a gun to a situation. I don't know if I could handle being responsible for taking someone's life over material possessions.

But on the other hand I understand that you do live in a country that is different to ours, where guns are used in robberies and the like and the anxiety that you must have in the event of someone entering your home.

I also think the situation where you hear people downstairs is completely different to if you're in your bedroom and someone enters it while you're asleep, or your kids room.

I think it becomes a totally different thing if you're protecting your life or more importantly, your kids life.

I don't think the chances of that happening are very high at all, so in my eyes all my thinking I've just done on both sides of the argument are negated by the super small chance that it'll happen.

I didn't mean to turn this thread into 'this'.

I agree. Things are just things, and I hold (most) people in higher regard than things.

But the fact that they have come into my home, violated both my privacy and my security and placed my family at risk, and done so for the petty motive of greed fueled by laziness?

That'll get you killed.

Principle matters.

Well, I wouldn't agree that all people steal out of greed and laziness.

But I understand your sentiment. If they come into your home they run the risk of getting shot, they're running the gauntlet.

People make mistakes and shoot their own family members thinking they are burglars.

Not a fun thing to live with. If you pull the trigger you had better be prepared to live with the results.

I'm with Arby on this one. Things are things... That's what I have insurance for.

Fair enough, but I'm thinking we've pretty much exhausted the OP topic, no?

And hey, we were arguing guns and crime from a 'stolen gear' perspective, so it's at least tangentially related, right?

Spoilsport!

Back on topic: TS, did you talk to your insurance company about the stolen gear? Sometimes good companies will cover stuff stolen out of a vehicle. If you have renters insurance they'd almost certainly take care of it. Unfortunately, most people don't have renters insurance even though it's usually so cheap. Good luck, man.
