I've focused on electric guitar for the majority of my musical career(as far as equipment knowledge goes). So I wanted all your inputs cause I don't know where to start. Right now I'm playing a Yamaha FX370C acoustic, and am tired of the quality of feel and sound.

So What kind of acoustic should I be looking for?

interest: Bon iver, city and colour, Owen(and really any of that guys other projects), Ben howard, John Mayer, etc.

Budget $400 and lower

used I'm in Austin so guitars are on CG all the time.

here are some links to what I want my sound to be like.

The real question is why the **** are you talking to your mom about a Mesa? What the hell did you think she was going to say?"No dear, I prefer Dual Rec tone?!"

GC or Musicians Friend, narrow search to your price range(section to the left) look for some solid tops within your price range...Also dont forget alot of the acoustic tone is technique PLUS decent Mic'ing technique, then the acoustic quality in my Opinion.

Any brands out there in particular that do cheap prices but good quality guitars? Or any other types of acoustic ( other then the solid top) I should focus on?

the seagull original s6 is, to my ear, and exceptional sounding solid top in its class and price range. it has a balanced tone, sparkling highs and enough bass to satisfy me. you might also want to check out used epiphone masterbilt dreads if you can find 'em, but i don't think they'll have the high end in the first videos. i think the original s6 with the cedar top (or the s6 slim if you prefer a slender nut) comes closer.

I just looked in my Oxford English Dictionary and under "Acoustic Guitar", there was your Avatar and an email address!

Do you have a GC near by? I know they sometimes Carry the Seagull S6...could try one out, and myself and Patticake have gave a thumbs up for em! Also Seagull is owned by Godin, which also includes the Brand "Simon & Patrick" aswell which you can check out...they have other brands under the Godin name but I cant name them all lol..But one hell of an underrated company making nice Guitars(Acoustic & Electric).
