In the musicvideo for Anna Molly by Incubus the black guy/DJ plays some kind of instrument that looks like a piano harp.
You can see it at 0:17.
What's it called?

I actually just googled 'instrument in anna molly' and that was the first thing to come up.

Well it looks like a marxophone.
Has anyone here played one of those?

I'm pretty sure many people have. Isn't it required learning in Economics courses?

People are ****ing stupid, arent they?

I ain't. I could have Googled it but I thought I maybe could have started a discussion here and also ask some questions if anyone is familiar with the instrument.
Oh god, people are stupid aren't they?

While I understand the instrument at a purely idealistic level, I just don't think that it can ever be applied in the real world. Admittedly though, it does make for far easier and more engaging listening than the Smithophone.

Ooooooooooooh

Sounds a bit shit on the lower strings, but pretty awesome higher up...

Might be good to use plastic instead of metal for those flappy things.. Then you could use distortion and stuff :P

That you play with hammers...

I find your argument flawed, as many countries have been playing the Marxophone for many years - Cuba, for example - and they often enjoy higher quality of life than traditionally Marxophone-shunning nations such as the USA.

Seriously, threads like this are bad. Why? Because chances are, no one on a guitar forum has played the marxophone. We might have played the piano, some of us. But an obscure instrument like the marxophone? Ha!

Your discussion devolved into determining how pianos and harps are similar.

sounds like an manly organ.

why would one want a mere manly organ

when they are already playing a godly instrument
