If I could afford to go, I'd go, more often.

I've been, and from where I am, it's not really affordable for me, atm, and, prices have gone up. I would like to go to see America with Obama as preisdent though. -- I'd hate to miss that.

Fixed.

London and Philadelphia is more of a difference than London and New York... You go New York, you see stuff you see in London except you're in America.

My brother's been living in California ,cause he's a computer geek and works in the silicon valley, for quite a while, on and off. Mostly on. So he sent me a plane ticket and I'm going to see him in 2 weeks. I'm soooo excited. Mostly for the road trip to LA so see some friends and yeah I'm excited.
Going to record in Nashville in the summer and see him then too.
Yeah I know...I'm almost jealous of myself.

See amazing wildlife and a totally different way of life, or eat in McDonalds every day and be shot by a fat person..

Yeah, I'll take Africa, thanks

Really? America or Africa?

East to West and North to South the USA is a pretty varied country, to generalise there is quite bad, but at least the language and much of the culture is the same.

But you're really going to lump all 54 African countries into one option? OK I'll discount some of the small island nations that you might have no reason to have heard of, but you'd consider Morocco and Zambia, Egypt and Madagascar as pretty much the same experience?

No.

This. Mainly because the rest of the country is shittier, and you'll leave thinking that the US is super awesome if you don't see all the shitty places outside of NY and the major East coast cities.

To avoid being sullied by those base-born cur, duh.

No, my pops is American.

But the only time I ended up there was in that one place with all the water that's shaped like hands and stuff on an exchange programme...

Not exactly where I would have chosen, but not bad.

I'd suggested making a trip to Chicago. It's a neat city and it's near the great lakes, and you have to see them.

I always knew they were big, but you don't really get the scope of how FREAKING HUGE they are until you see them in person.

I live in America, so it's not really exciting to travel in the country. I guess it would be cool to go to the west coast. I'd rather go to Africa though.

To be honest it's not that varied. America is diverse in the sense that you will find several types of people living within a single city, but that isn't exclusive to America. The states are really the same (granted I haven't been to New England, most of the Midwest, or a good portion of the South). I lived in Texas and it's the same as the rest except with even lamer accents. I moved from Utah to Arizona last year and it is very nearly the exact same culture and lifestyle. There are some regional variations but whenever I hear people say 'comparing New York to California is like trying to compare England and Mongolia' I want to tell them how wrong they are (obviously this isn't directed towards you). I think you can easily generalise America.

With that said it does all sucks minus the major cities on the east coast and a few in the west, and I suppose a few isolated non-awful areas in between. >_>

Well there's Chicago...

I couldn't stand the Midwest when I went there other than Chicago. All it is is corn for hours and hours on end. And it's completely flat.

Driving for 3 hours in Indiana is enough to make a man go insane.

My list for American cities that don't suck goes like this (keep in mind I haven't even been to most of these and a lot of this is based on just reading/ hearing about them >_> Also I'm aware some of these have tons of problems but I'm listing them based on other factors as well:

1st tier good:

Boston
San Francisco
New York (or at least part of it)
Honolulu
Washington DC
Santa Fe (most appealing small city)
Philadelphia

Second tier good:

Seattle
Chicago
Baltimore
Minneapolis
Salt Lake City (lol bias)

Cities that suck but deserve some credit:

Los Angeles
New Orleans
Miami
San Antonio

I'm probably forgetting a few at the moment but whatever. Also Chicago nearly got placed in the final category.

Then we have some rural great rural areas/countryside, but other than that the rest of America can **** off lol. Especially Oklahoma, Arizona, almost the entire Mid West, most of the deep south, and New Jersey.
#32
:/ New Jersey gets a bad rep, it's actually a really nice state (except for the way Northern part and the way Southern part, those both suck).

Being an hour from both Philly and New York is cool. I never have to worry about missing a band because they're not playing in the area. Central Jersey where I'm from actually has some really nice diverse scenery.

But seriously fuck the midwest. I was driving in Indiana for 3 hours and I completely understood what Modest Mouse felt like when they wrote the Lonesome Crowded West. It was that depressing.
#33
Yeah I'm sure there's another side to New Jersey, but that won't stop me from making fun of the place.

The Midwest is easily the lamest region in general, although the Southwest and non-coastal South are close seconds.

I might have to say Arkansas is the least appealing state, and that's even including Oklahoma.

Pennsylvania is actually a pretty horrible state outside of Philly and Pittsburgh.

So wrong.

I feel like nobody outside of New Jersey has actually been to this state.
#38
The weird thing about the midwest is that you can go to a city like Columbus, or Cleveland, or Indianapolis, and it's pretty nice. Big city, people, stuff to do, etc. Then you drive 20 minutes outside of the city and suddenly you're in bum**** nowhere with trailer parks and/or corn fields as far as the eye can see.

^I use to live in New Jersey. It's better than Ohio. And Ohio is probably in the top half of states.

I've been to jersey many times. I get bagels in jersey and eat pizza in jersey. Outside of those two things, I cannot think of any other redeeming factors.
