Effects
Do you use effects?, if so, which?: Wah, Compression, Fuzz, Distortion, Bass Synth, delay
Which effects do you own: Dunlop 105Q, EHX Multicomp, EHX Big Muff Pi, ZVEX Mastotron, Sansamp BDDI, Markbass Bass Synth, EHX Bass Micro Synth (which I dislike and barely use), Boss DD-3, and also a Digitech Whammy (I've lent this to one of my guitarists cause it's much more applicable to his playing than mine, they sure are fun though)
Favourite effect: Markbass Bass Synth. It can make some seriously cool/funky/tripped out synth noises, has 9 programmable presets plus 3 additional presets for a bass octaver function (you can connect it to your computer via USB and realllly mess around with the synth parameters). It's sounds are versatile and easy to use in a band setting, plus the presets make it very practical. I got it as a replacement for the EHX Micro Synth, which can make some real nice noises in it's own right, but it takes a while to dial in the perfect settings with the sliders and in a live setting changing the synth tone on the fly isn't really feasible. The Markbass is a better sounding pedal that resolves all the shortcomings of the EHX one. It's a little pricier, but neither of them are exactly cheap pedals and the extra cash is well worth it. Highly recommended pedal.

Genres
Genres you play: Jam, Livetronica, Funk, Rock, Post-Rock
Genres you enjoy playing: The above, plus indie and metal. Love me some breakdowns lol.
Favourite genre to play: Livetronica. The possibilities are endlessssssss
Bands you are in: Glass Satellite (googling it will lead you no where, but it's kind of progressive jammy rock-influenced livetronica)

Knowledge etc
Which aspect of Basses you have the most proficieny in, (Playing and Technique\Building and maintaining\Composing and theory\ Gear: Playing or gear. Don't really know diddly about theory unfortunately, I used to but have forgotten most and all that I knew was for the cello and I never bothered transferring that knowledge over to bass (stupidly). It doesn't impact my ability to compose at all, but it's something that's been nagging me for a while and something I'm gonna do something about.
Favourite famous bass player: Justin Chancellor and Jean Baudin
Famous bass player you think you most resemble in style or personality: I'm really quite influenced by Justin Chancellor, and always take pride when people tell me a bass line I came up with sounds like something of his. I love his musical approach and the techniques he uses to create a very full and atmospheric bass presence. I like to think I'm kind of like a medley between JC and Dan Kurtz (of the wonderful, and now defunct, The New Deal and who is now playing in Dragonette). The music me and my band tries to make is essentially atmospheric and trippy rock/dance music, and this cross works out quite well I think. I listed Jean Baudin above, and I try to mimic some of the sonic textures he creates what with the open strings ringing and chords and what not, but most of my playing is nothing like his lol

Location: See to the left, it's likely to change up soonish and I'll probably forget to update it here.
Been playing for: Nearly 24 hours now, been playing guitar for about 6 years though and I've switched instruments with bassists during jams.
Which instruments can you play, except Bass: Guitar, and technically keyboard (I'm good at picking out melodies on it, but the whole two hands thing isn't a thing I can do)

Bass Guitars

Current Bass\es: Tanglewood Rebel 4K LH
Favourite Bass you've played: Some kind of 6-string custom job I played at a jazz night one time, despite being upside down for me it was easily the smoothest/
Dream Bass: 6 strings, lefty, J-style in the neck and bridge, possibly a P-style in the middle for maximum versatility (I don't know my way around bass pickups as far as individual pickups, but I want to be able to get a big range of sounds), basswood body, 24 frets, this kind of natural finish,

Amps
Current amp\s: Presently playing through a Zoom G2 and headphones, I'd probably use the house kit when gigging. Might pick up an amp when I'm living somewhere that doesn't have paper-thin walls and a baby's bedroom through one of them- dammit neighbours.

Effects
Do you use effects?, if so, which?: I've played around with delay, a bit of wah, and I'm just about getting tuned up with some light compression. EQ is a must too, obviously.
Which effects do you own: Nothing specific to bass, but I've got a couple of Zoom guitar pedals which are
Favourite effect: Experimenting at present, but I'm coming to like the silly things I can do with a long delay loop (say a couple of seconds) a lot.

Genres
Genres you play: Jazz, metal, blues
Genres you enjoy playing: The above, mostly jazz at the moment but I'm big on taking ideas from one genre and using them in another (mainly jazzing up metal)
Favourite genre to play: Jazz fusion, **** yeah.
Bands you are in: I write solo stuff and jam, but nothing that's gone as far as getting a name yet.

Knowledge etc

Which aspect of Basses you have the most proficieny in, (Playing and Technique\Building and maintaining\Composing and theory\ Gear): Composition and theory for sure at the moment, I know a good bit about keeping an electric guitar running and how the electronics work and a good bit of that transfers over to basses, but I've set up all of two basses.
Technique-wise, again the bits that transfer from guitar (where the notes are, the rough idea of fretting/picking, etc) are there but the subtle differences aren't there. I know what I should be playing in a given context, but mechanically I'm a bit rough at present.
I don't know shit about gear beyond 'this effect will do something like this'; I know how the waveforms look/what's going on mathematically when an effect happens to a signal, but the physics is mostly lost on me, and the internals are basically a magic box that does the effect.
Favourite famous bass player: Oh, heck. I really don't know my names; Cliff Burton is the first that springs to mind, but I've never heard anything jazzy from him and in terms of music as compared to the unique perspective Cliff had I find jazz players a lot more impressive.
Famous bass player you think you most resemble in style or personality:

I'm almost 65. I'm David and I live in Central Arkansas.
Been playin bass for about 32 years and started guitar
about 5 years before that. Amazingly, I never became
very good at it, but if it ain't too hard, I can play along.
Guitar is about the only other instrument I can insult, lol

I got a hand made fretless and three other fretless
bassses, a Peavey Fury and Patriot. I got a MIM P and
a VM P bass and two 1960's Japanese basses.

My favorite bass is a 1983 Westone Electra X640N with
18 volt preamp. I have never played a bass I like better.
I dream of owning any of them boutique basses I ain't
never played.

I got a GK 400 RB-III with an Ampeg PB112H cab and
a Kustom 1-15B cab with a JBL D140F 15" driver. I
also have a Fender M-80 1X12 cab and an Acoustic
B-20 practice amp.

I play country, blues and rock and I like all three of um.
I haven't been in a band sense I was 40. The kids and
tha Misses dampened my playing abilities. Now tha
Misses and tha kids are gone and basses and guitars
are my hobby.

I'm not very proficient any more. I am much worse than
I was 25 years ago. I know some of the basics, but that's
about it.

I'm better at fixing um and improving them.

Michael "Supe" Granda is a guy I know. He's with the
Ozark Mountain Dardevels and he's my favorite.

I don't think my sloppy style resembles any famous
bass player, even remotely,

I picked up the Bass last year when Rocksmith added it to the game. I find playing Bass a lot more fun and am looking forward to the new Rocksmith 2014.

Edit: The songs I enjoy playing on Rocksmith lately are the Blues stuff; The Thrill is Gone, Born Under a Bad Sign, and Eric Clapton's Run Back to Your Side, some of the poppier stuff; Harder to Breathe is quite fun, and some of the harder stuff; Judas Priest's Painkiller and Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare are great fun.
