On the come up we were listening to Grateful Dead and the music started passing through my bowel and out my arsehole as this violet stream of light. I shat music. It was beautiful.

You want to look for someone who knows what they are doing, preferably someone who is interested in the same music you are. But most importantly, they must be able to convey their information to their student accurately. This may take a bit of trial and error to discover.

Junior's usually at least a little terse, but he knows his stuff. I've always read his posts in a grouchy grandfather voice, a grouchy grandfather with a huge stiffy for alternate picking.
Besides that, he's right this time. As usual.

My advice is to try more than one teacher. And be sure to get one that actually teaches the styles you are interested in. Don't settle for someone that force-feeds you jazz if you want to play rock.
