So basically, I'm moving into a house with a few people in a few months and I won't be able to play my amp at a volume that would give me a decent tone. Can you guy recommend me a solution for this? I'm thinking something I can plug headphones into or use my computer somehow. I don't want to give a budget until I know my options.

What amp do you have?

Personally I like the line 6 Pod HD or just plain Pod series for late night playing. You can play either through headphones or through the computer.

See, it's important that people clarify when they say "metal", because I pretty much always assume they are a Cannibal Corpse fanboi.
