As a student graduating college in 3 weeks, I am beginning to notice a peculiar phenomenon; People who have not attended college attempt to delegitimize my opinions/philosophies on the basis that I went to a state college.

Thoughts?

All education is indoctrination. That's why all of my higher education came from blog sites and tumblr feminists.
#6
I think public schools do it. Colleges less so in a lot of areas because teachers have more freedom in what they teach and you can get multiple opinions. I've taken American Lit with two different professors, entirely different spin on the overlapping areas.

America has a lot of attitudes that see education in a negative light. Education immediately makes you separate from common people somehow.

Depends. Do you think believing in Heliocentrism in the early 1600s was considered indoctrination?

Yes, of course.

Just like public schools exist for the sole purpose of brainwashing children to accept the communist fascist socialist doctrines of our Jewish/Muslim-led country that wants to turn us all gay in order to destroy the human race with science.

It's true.

It's like, if we came from monkeys, how can there still be monkeys? And if evolution isn't true, how do we know anything else from science is true?
Taking any money from people who earned it is theft, and thus taxes are theft, and are socialism and communism. Other communist countries like Germany or France lie to their citizens and make them think like they're doing well, when they're actually not, and they have high taxes.
Taxes means lack of freedom, dude.
#15
If education doesn't indoctrinate then it has failed to impart embodied cultural capital. If it simply cultivates skill/human capital then it is moreso training than education.

Saying one indoctrination is wrong based on its source rather than its content is some sort of argument from authority fallacy.

What's ironic is you pretty much just regurgitated an argument from the one of the persons in question.

God damn you, Poe's Law!

I assumed my usual stance on these things would be known enough to allow me to go that far

Though I guess in retrospect the problem is me not going far enough. Curses!

Not in the US. We have many private universities.

@TS:
I would say there's some indoctrination, but it's more based on what's "socially acceptable", not necessary in the classroom.

Silly American. Here Universities are private too, but the government pays them a certain amount for your education. 9k per student per year I think.

Okay now here is something I don't get.

Say you want to cleverly insert the word "poor" into the word "european", how do you do it?
Well you have two choices. You go with europoor..

..Why don't you call us pooropeans? That sounds SO much better.
You guys even suck at insulting us. Good job. 0/10

I understand that. But private institutions are so expensive here because many private schools receive no government funding.

Pooropeans doesn't imply coming from "Europe". The end of the word ("pean(s)") doesn't imply "Europe". Conversely, "Europoor" very much implies a poor person from Europe, as "Euro" is a term attached to Europe. So...sorry, but you're wrong.

Probably because pooropean lacks any actual root to connect it to Europe and just sounds like the result of subpar education being propped up by government intervention.
#32
Yeah, Euro- is always the prefix used to denote Europe (Eurozone, Eurocentric, Eurotrash, etc) while -pean by itself doesn't mean anything.

Well a pean is an ancient greek hymn of praise/invoking a deity. So a Poorpean could be someone incompetent at singing to Zeus

Well many teachers are ridiculously one-minded, but I'd say it's up to the parents/guardians of those kids to raise them on how to handle things like that.
