On Craigslist I saw a beautiful-looking Ibanez S470 with DiMarzio pickups.

What's the public impression of the S470? And the ZR Tremolo?

The guy's asking for $275. I'm thinking $200. Who's right?

I don't know how much they go for in the US but I'd say go for it, they're really good guitars; I still have, love and use mine for gigging.

The ZR is a good trem; stable, plenty of range of motion in the S470.

S470's are decent guitars.

The ZR tremolo is a good system. It isn't as responsive as an OFR, but it holds tune very well and is very easy to set up.

price wise 200 is far too low,

275 sounds bang on.

So a guy who's bang on with his prices swapped out a Lo TRS for an Edge III? Good to know. I'm going to talk with my source of money (gonna be a birthday guitar probably) and get that S470.

The ZR is genius. Actual practice aside, in theory, knife edges are very silly when you compare them to the pivot system of a ZR.

Also, the ZR was used on Prestige models. That's worth noting.

eh?

you never mentioned anything about those trems?

the newer s470 has the ZR trem, the older one has a LO-TRS in it, this looks much more like a floyd.

275 sounds about right for a newer one with dimarzios in it though, try to get down to 250 to win at life.

I am somewhat nearby to you, TS, and to be honest $250 is a pretty good price expecially with the ZR and dimarzio pickups. If you can't make a deal, I might have to. Just kidding. Sounds like a pretty fair deal for that area.
