I'm interested to see what musicians are using as a quick way just to record riffs. Myself, i work away a lot and still haven't got round to getting some software/hardware yet to use on my laptop, and to be quite frank, i haven't got a clue where to start. Any Suggestions.

A quick way to record riffs? If you just want to be able to store them so you can come back to them later, pretty much every smartphone has the capability to do this.

For actual recording, there are two options - either an interface to use your PC, or a multitracker which can do everything for you. Recommendations for both are discussed in the interfaces sticky.
