Best movie soundtrack?

LOTR is probably my vote, followed by Tron. As they are the only two soundtracks I've ever really listened much to

Silent movie soundtracks are the best, especially old black & white lesbian films from the 20s.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

Every guitar and bass forum I've visited has some people chasing some magical tone that will shoot jizzing unicorns riding on a rainbow out of their amp.

It's really hard to pick a favorite score, there are so many great ones. I assume that you mean scores, and not just random songs thrown into a movie.

But I think that John Williams is easily the greatest movie composer ever.

Lord of the rings has an awesome soundtrack.
I really like Elfman's work with Burton on things like Nightmare Before Christmas and corpse bride.
The lion king has a beautiful soundtrack
I also love Pirates of The Carribean 1's soundtrack

There is no way I could pick a single soundtrack - There are many awesome ones out there

Not an original-song, but the Star Trek-movie a few years back absolutely changed the way I listen to Beastie Boys.

Sabotage made that scene awesome, and the scene made Sabotage awesome to me.

Seeing as there was no stipulation that the soundtrack had to be a score and not a compilation, i'm going to throw out a couple of my favorite soundtrack compilations.

Caddyshack
Last American Virgin
Devils Rejects

Within context of the movie, I'd probably say Bio-Dome. Not the greatest movie in the world, but the music they chose for those specific scenes was perfect.
