Jose is traveling to paris. Kayla left 2.1 hours later and traveled 35mi/hr faster. After 1.2 hours, kayla caught up. Find jose`s average speed

k hurry

k hurry

#2

average 76.3 miles per hour

#3

Do your own homework

#4

Not fast enough to beat Kayla to Paris

#5

I'm sorry but you must specify with whom Kayla caught up? I assume she is traveling to Paris as well but it is not stated. Also does the .1 specify 10 minutes or 6 minutes (a valid question based on the common nomenclature of time)?

Assuming you mean 2 Hours 6 minutes and Kayla's average speed is 100mi/hr then jose is traveling 65mi/hr

Assuming you mean 2 Hours 6 minutes and Kayla's average speed is 100mi/hr then jose is traveling 65mi/hr

Jose's average is 20 mph.

#7

More than 12 parsecs.

#8

.5 past light speed

#9

This is why we can't have nice things, assholes.

#10

Ludicrous speed.

#11

Don't you have a formula sheet full of kinematic equations? Let me guess, "I used it to roll up a fat spliff".Sigh

shit what else is paper good for

btw its 20 duh

#12

Why is distance and speed being measured in miles and miles per hour in Paris

#13

Because they're not in Paris yet, duh.

#14

the answer is 20

ok here is how.

dist. traveled by Kayla = 35*1.2 = 42 miles = dist. traveled by Jose

time spent traveling by Jose = 2.1 h

average speed of Jose = 42 miles / 2.1 hours = 20 miles/hour

ok here is how.

dist. traveled by Kayla = 35*1.2 = 42 miles = dist. traveled by Jose

time spent traveling by Jose = 2.1 h

average speed of Jose = 42 miles / 2.1 hours = 20 miles/hour

Shit son. Kayla caught up that quickly? Jose is a little bitch.

#16

His average speed is go to hell or start using SI units. And don't use decimals for time except to indicate fractions of a second.

#17

The answer .... is 42.

#18

the speed of love

#20

That's one racist math problem.

ok here is how.

dist. traveled by Kayla = 35*1.2 = 42 miles = dist. traveled by Jose

time spent traveling by Jose = 2.1 h

average speed of Jose = 42 miles / 2.1 hours = 20 miles/hour

Your answer is correct, but your working of the problem is wrong. It doesn't say Kayla is going 35 miles/hr, it says she's moving 35 miles/hr

**faster**

So it's

K's speed = x + 35

J's speed = x

If they caught up 1.2 hours after the initial delay of 2.1 hours, it means at the moment they caught up, Jose had been traveling 3.3 hours. All that being said:

3.3x = 1.2(35+x)

3.3x = 42 + 1.2x

2.1x = 42

x = 20

Wait you're in grade 9?

#23

Wait you're in grade 9?

My initial thought too. He's either in remedial math or is just crying for attention.

#24

Shit and I just had a test in this crap

#25

math is hard

#26

Brilliant. Calvin and Hobbes are always relevant

#27

Jose is obviously riding in the back of a packed produce truck with a bunch of 'cousins', Those things dont go much faster that 50mph.

I'll say 42 mph.

I'll say 42 mph.

#28

Jose is still mowing my lawn at 35mi/hr.

#29

i know the answer but i wont help cause you called me a nerd

(also im tired form work and i dont feel like doing any sort of thinking)

You thinkalgebrais hard? Chump.

Somebody get this guy some Calculus. Then, shove some Experimental Math his way.

#32

More than 12 parsecs.

I'm hoping (based on your name) that this is tongue-in-cheek. We all know by now that a parsec is a measurement of distance. Right?

#33

math is st00pid

#34

Shit son. Kayla caught up that quickly? Jose is a little bitch.

Yup.

#36

She's going 20mph. I actually miss doing these simple little problems.

#37

*55 mph

Guys I solved this like 100 years ago please stop

That's one racist math problem.

Making the Mexican the slow one.

Because he has to stop at every street corner and sell some oranges to finance his trip to paris.
