i would do this on a tele in the bridge with slanted single coil in the bridge and one of those large metal bridges that surrounds it.
would i have to replace the bridge?

I dunno, man. Do you think you might be able to fit a humbucker into that single-coil slot in the bridge?





On the positive side, you can get tele bridges designed for humbuckers. They tend to be cut square rather than diagonally but changing it should be a doddle.

^ Indeed. Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio and several boutique custom pickup manufacturers make humbuckers that are the size of a standard Tele pickup and they sound no different than a 'full' humbucker. Hell, the Telecaster version of the SD Hot Rails has more output than an EMG 81.
