Got some new tubes in today.

2 Siemens 6L6 and 1 RFT 12AX7.

I was running a tungsol in V1 of my Stiff Amps Dirthead, but it was way too bright. The RFT darkend it up nicely.

The amp came with 2 Groove Tube 6L6GC power tubes and man what a difference these NOS tubes made.

The sound is smoother, more articulate, and sonically fuller.

The amp all ready sounded incredible on both channels and now it sounds even better. The tubes have provided an overall enhancement of every sound pouring out of the speaker.

I figured I would take the chance on NOS tubes to see if they live up to the hype and i believe they have.

Nice. How much was the RFT?

It was 59.99, but totally worth it. I kept the tungsol in V2 because I couldn't afford to buy anymore at this time. When I get some spare cash, I'll certainly grab another one or two for spares.

old tubes are so crappy, you should stay away from those things. :P

i have to be honest, i have never even heard of RFT, they gotta be european or something?

Ha ha ha. Yeah, I want to write a review on the website saying they suck so no one else will buy them before I can grab a few more.

RFT is/was a German company.

Still, that's not bad at all. NOS 6L6's are getting very expensive, especially German ones. I recently blew one of my British 6L6's - not happy.

Btw. I often recommend RFT when people want to tame the top end of their amps and are prepared to go NOS. Did you get it on my advice? I can't remember if you were one of those times or not.

A little. I had one of those in my effects loop for a while. RFT are a lot darker though. If you want a dark tube there's no going past an RFT.

I'm not sure if you mentioned it to me or not. To be honest I usually pay attention to everything you say about tubes.

I looked at every site that sells tubes or talks about tubes and they all said the same about RFT, dark and punchy, which is what I was shooting for.
