Has anyone tried one of these for modern metal tones? I see that Adam D plays one now, curious if they sound alright?

5150 for right now. I haven't settled on an amp upgrade yet. Just wondering if the pickups can keep up.

It would be fine, you can use a guitar for any genres. I use a Tele for metal

I know you can use any guitar, but some definitely do it better than others. Just wondering if anyone has actually tried it outside of hypotheticals.

I have seen several metal/punk bands using various Wolfgang models from Peavey to the new EVH. They cope just fine.

Eddie designed that thing to be the only guitar you'd really ever need, regardless of genre.

And even better it is Blonde Ash

It screams Country, but you'll never hear that coming out of it

A Wolfgang through a 5150 sounds unreal for any genre, but especially metal. Jorn Viggo from this band Pagan's Mind uses that setup and it sounds amazing.

You could play metal on a pedal steel through that amp!

I don't see why not, but i haven't tried it. It's not like it's a jazzbox or something with single coils, though, so I'm guessing it should work ok. I mean it's not like evh's modern tone is low gain or anythign like that...

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

oh yeah of course, but it's still a lot more in the vintage camp- his old tone is a lesson in how to get a fairly modern-sounding tone out of vintage equipment. Whereas his newer tone is just mega high gain modern tube amps.

Thanks. This is almost a perfect guitar for me, just wish it had a bevel on the back.
