Could somebody recommend me some cool experimental bands, I've been listening to a lot of Ween and Black Moth Super Rainbow recently, so something along those lines?
Yo, not to toot my own horn here, but I make a lot of experimental music ( http://mockoff.bandcamp.com/ )
Godspeed You! Black Emperor is worth checking out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta2-VXNIhH0
Liars like to experiment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xOGIqoaGaw
I'm sure you've heard of Animal Collective http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nTxbRyRMnY
When I was in my crazy experimental phase I listened to lots of Venetian Snares and a bit of Captain Beefheart. Tom Waits has some experimental stuff that I really like.
songs with experimental elements:
captain beefheart- safe as milk (bluesey rock/ experimental)
capt beefheart- trout mask replica (weirdness)
pere ubu- dub housing (avant-garage)
velvet underground- white light/white heat (garage rock wierdness)
brian eno- here come the warm jets (70's pop wierdness)
devo- are we not men (80's pop wierdness)
jimi Hendrix- electric ladyland
frank zappa- almost any album by him
thelonious monk- well you needn't (jazz wierdness)
