I don't post on this forum much so I don't know if it's in the right spot or not, but there's this one guitar tone I like and I'd like to know how to get it.

It's the tone that the guitarist has at 1:48 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC6eOfQvHXM

I'm just wondering what kind of effect/tone/whatever he would considered to have right here, and how I may be able to acquire something like this. Thanks in advance.

Nothing overly special about that tone. Sounds like a heavily compressed clean from a Mesa amp to me.

Clean sound. It's more about the thing he plays that gives that kind of sound.

It's not that kind of Fender clean sound, it's pretty dark and maybe a bit dirty. I think it could be achieved by turning your guitar volume knob down on distortion channel.

Just remember that there are no boring scales, just boring players.

It's just the clean channel of a high gain American voiced amp?

Yeah, exactly that. I can't see how that kind of a clean sound would be so hard to achieve...

TS, if you know the gear he is using, you know what he uses to achieve that tone.

Way to go, except that I can get that kind of a clean sound with my Laney VH100R too.

Depending on when that was filmed he's either using a Mark V or an AxeFX2. Sounds like the Axe2 to me.

I seriously doubt they were using Axe Fxs in 2006 (at least, I'm pretty sure that's from the Colors DVD?

I'm pretty sure I saw a Rectifier in their rack, in any case. Cameramen need to focus more on gear.

The guitar sounds down tuned as well.

They're in C# standard.

BTBAM is the most unmetal metal band I have ever seen.

You shut your ***** mouth. TS, as everyone has said, basic, lackluster clean sound.
I'm just a kickin' and a gougin' in the mud and the blood and the beer.
