This story is very short, and ends rather painfully! You have been warned.

Back when I first started playing some 18 years back i got given an old tube amp.
A watkins dominator.

In my ignorant youth (i was 13), the amp didn't get the care it deserved. Eventually it got left in a garage and forgotten about after having had its speakers removed.

The amp.... well, of all things, in the end, it got thrown out when the house I grew up in got sold

Do I regret it? Of course I ****ing do!!! Not that I would have much use for it with the style I play but I hate to see things like this happen now that I'm older and wiser.

The End.

Letting this happen is probably one of my biggest regrets!

^ you do realise those amps go for like £1200 these days right? They're rare as ****!!

I think it's more the fact that I don't really care.

^ then play nice, dude!

Cathbard, yeah it was a really nice amp. It's such a shame I just couldn't see it at the time. Kids can be stupid, and clearly I was no exception!

Is it possible that it's still sitting in the garage, also not recognised for what it is? I'd wander over there and ask. Offer them $200 and tell them you want it for sentimental reasons only.

No chance, sadly.
The house got cleared out prior to being sold and in my absence it was taken to the tip. It's likely little more than dust now

People just think I'm a filthy punk but cleaning out the house is just bad.

Yup. If i had been present I would have stopped it from happening but by the time I was there to help with the last few bits it was some weeks later so there was just no hope.

When I was younger, probably around 13, I decided I was too old for my Ninja Turtles action figure collection... Sold the whole thing for like $10. I had everything. I still hate myself for that.

So......I'm really sorry about what happened. I think.

I've never even heard of that brand before. At least you got the speakers out prior - that was probably the biggest value in the thing. It certainly isn't cringe worthy. Now if you had said that your beloved Fender Twin was thrown in the back of a dumpster and compacted before your very eyes when you returned home to visit mom and you could hear the tubes and reverb tack exploding.....now that's a story

Here is a better one:

I blew up my Vintage Sears amp by reamping my Splawn into it in an attempt to get some br00talz

Thanks tubetime, to quote the article for 311ZOSOVHJH: "The V-front Watkins Dominator is the stuff of legend, and a very rare and collectable amp nowadays"

So this is why i hugely regret letting it get forgotten about!

That's horrible.

IIRC those are the amps that the 18 watt Marshall are based on.

That sucks dude.

^ Thanks man, I don't get why people have to post useless crap like eppicurt did.

ragingkitty, shit yeah, haha i'd be kicking myself to the moon and back if it were!

cha33 armstrong, that would make an interesting story haha. I once had mila kunis, but being 13 I didn't treat her right, removed her speakers(??! what?!) and left her in the garage to be forgotten about.

And seagull, how exactly did you lose an AC30?? Forget about it after a show or something? haha.

Yeah. There's almost no difference at all. Small, fairly insignificant differences in the power amp. The preamp is identical as far as I can see.
Oddly enough, the variation on the original 1974X that I do (increased filter capacitance) is actually what the Watkins had. It supports my opinion that Marshall were simply trying to save money.
