You really need a bass guitar in there.

It is?

I can't hear it through my studio headphones. The guitar sounds weak without an obvious bass presence. I think you may need to turn it up.

What kind of headphones are you using?
I mix on ATH-m50, maybe the bass on these things are boosted or something but ill fix it!

I'm listening on the same headphones. I can't hear it.

It could be youtube, it's not exactly great for conveying sound quality.

Edit. Correction. I CAN hear it.

I just don't feel like it's strengthening the mix enough. What should be a big break out sounds kinda flat because the bass is kinda rubber banding away in the mid range.

Though that could just be youtube as well.

It lacks punch, it might not be the bass doing it, but I think it lacks punch.

Ah I see what you mean now. I don't think it is youtube I think it was a mistake on my end lol
It could be the way that I eq the bass - High passed at 50, and boosted near 130.
Or it could be because when the distorted guitars come in, I automated each instruments volume but the bass >_<

I'll fix that :P Thanks for the help!

I tend to have multiple versions of the bass track going at once. I have one which I cut to be only the low frequencies. Then I compress the shit out of it, ensuring I have a strong low end.

Then I build my bass tone on top of that. By using multiple tracks and using various distortions and amp sims.
