You guessed correctly. Lots of that tone, as you know, comes from a cranked marshall, but there are plenty of pedals that will get you close:

There's a few places to start. Your options are not limited to those.
Of those, however, I have to recommend the Suhr Riot ($220) and Wampler Plextortion ($210) if you are willing to shell out a little extra cash. I have played both, and although I wasn't playing the same kind of stuff as you posted, I have confidence that they could get you close.

Get on youtube and start looking at clips. If you are in Melbourne, pop into the actual Deluxe Guitars store and start trying shit. If not, find somewhere local to you. Happy Hunting

Also remember that Slash doesn't use a Strat, so you're unlikely to get a good match of his tone unless you change guitar.

Yeah pretty much this but you should still get passably close. Is it HSS or SSS?
