One of the bigger bands here, we've opened up for them twice. I think they have a perfect recipe that could appeal to both fans of metal and traditional rock, that could bring them mainstream success. Feel this way about any bands from your area?

There is this band Wilhelmfreddie, and they're playing organsaxbasdrumthrash and they're brilliant live.
But they are beginning to "make it", they're playing a lot of pretty big gigs and are continuing with it so I won't be surprised to see them somewhere in the afternoon on a big festival next year.

I completely lost interest in the local scene, it was terrible when I paid any attention a few years back. Sacred Mother Tongue are getting pretty well known, though.

Well they opened up for Slash when he played here. Don't know if that's called "making it". They're a cool bunch of crazy dudes though .

I actually quite liked that. One of the vocalists sounds a tiny bit like Axl. Talk about ironic.

Could use a little less weirdness though.

Wow, didn't realize how useless their new singer was.

How is [insert generic metal band] not popular?!11
Because they lack originality.

Theres this local band called Sudden Suspension thats pretty good. They're still in highschool so they haven't really made it yet.

But I'd be legitimately surprised if the guitarist doesn't have Tumblr fangirls within the next 5 years.

There are 2 bands from Derby that I think should have gotten further with their careers than they did.

1) In-Flight Program - nice little band, decent lyricist, decent Post-Hardcore sound.

2) Imogen - these guys were touted as Derbys answer to the Deftones by Kerrang magazine waaaaay back in like 04 I think. They broke up shortly after, having only released a single EP "Like The Girls Name". If you ever track down a copy, you should give it a listen. I've no idea if someones put it on youtube or not.

Pooping is well good though, to be fair.

I've got a handle on the fiction.

I'm losing my grip, 'cos I'm losing my fingers.

I didn't ask why they weren't popular, but thanks for your opinion.

My definition of "making it" is when you earn enough money from your band that you don't need a day job.

"FIREBRAND SUPER ROCK have gigged tirelessly, played at festivals such as Bloodstock Open Air and Hammerfest and supported Slayer, Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth at London’s Hammersmith Apollo." Quote from their website.

I think there next album (due soon) will be very important to their success.

These guys have some very math-based stuff. Met them once or twice and I always hear about a show going on in Baltimore, MD. They obviously cater to musicians-music so they always delve into what gear they use, how they do stuff, etc. if you ask them. Definitely a cool group of dudes.

They also have this song and 4 others on a free EP off their bandcamp.

My buddy used to play keyboard for them but I think they dropped him. Havent listened to them in a few years.
They have a defined sound and the singer has that sort of maroon 5 timbre.
I don't know man. I think they're a sick alternative band with a decent commercial sound
