I got a job with a luthier this summer and they said they'd let me build a guitar. I'm a fingerstyle player and I'd like to make a steel string. My question is what are the best tonewoods/body shape for a fingerstyle player. I saw the Taylor grand concert and thought a similair shape might be good but I'm not sure. I'm not rich either so don't tell me brazilian rosewood.
i have an ibanez ew20sge and it's made of spalted mango. it's an exotic wood but i think its affordable. i know for a sure that it sounds really good and makes for a beautiful guitar.

ask the luthier, I'm sure he'll know...
