I play almost exclusively at home and I don't intend on cranking up the volume too high. I'm primarily a metal guitarist but I need an amp capable of delivering clear tones as well. I have a Boss GT-6 and I intend on using it about 90% of the time, so an amp with a lot of on board effect possibilities isn't so important to me. My budget is around $300-$400, and I've been playing for about 8-9 years, I just never seemed to learn much about amplifiers

Any model suggestions?

I stayed away because it looked a little beaten up, I did use that link and found a fender mustang III for $149 though. I decided to go with that for now, and maybe upgrade sometime a year from now if it doesn't give me everything I need. Thanks for the suggestion though, I wouldn't have gone used if I didn't have recommendations to do so ! I've just been wanting to get this over with, my crate died on me like 8 months ago.

Well I hope you like the amp you chose, because GC has an awesome return policy on used gear. The Ultra is from the mid 1990's so a little road rash is really nothing But good luck. I would not have chosen a modeling amp when I was using a MFX unit, it just doesn't make sense
