I love the tone of the bass guitar in this song, and wanted to replicate it in my own songs with the use of amp simulators, any tips?
So far, I DI the bass in, copy it so there are 2 copies in separate tracks, run one through a sim and carve the mid's out. To the other track, I put the mids back in and remove the low and highs and run it through a distortion effect, but it doesn't seem to achieve the job!

Anyone that can help?

You'll probably want to look in the TSE B.O.D. vst. It's a free SansAmp Driver Emulator.

Should help immensely.
