Hi guys!

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience adding an effects loop to a marshall head. I am interested in the DSL 15H but it lacks an effects loop. I'm pretty sure that if I run the delay before the dirt it will sound really bad (correct me if im wrong). Also if that won't work any other amp suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for something small enough to use at home without killing my family (and I'm a big marshall fan)

Thanks,
Zac

There are many amps out there that may best fit your needs. Most people tend to be underwhelmed by the new DSL series, including myself.

Give us:
Budget?
Location?
New or Used?
Sound you are after?

Then we can help more
Gibson LP traditional and DC standard, PRS S2 Custom 24, MIA Standard Strat, Charvel So Cal Pro Mod, Schecter Banshee 7

- My budget is around $1,000 tops. I'm looking to keep this amp for a while
- I'm in Columbus Ohio
- New or used dosent really rather, if it's really beat up maybe not
- I play mostly 80s rock like Aerosmith, Van Halen, Journey, Bon Joivi, ect.
and if it helps I have an OCD overdrive and MXR carbon copy

Krank 1980 Jr they have one for $375 at www.guitarcenter.com/usedgear.

I have one and it is a great Marshall type amp with 2 channels and a FX loop.

You can get the full sized JCM2000 DSL100/50, Krank Chadwick, Krank 1980, Laney GH50/100 for $500-$700 if you have the room

Laney AOR run $300-$400 used and are great Marshall type amps

TS you are fairly close to me. Check the local CL ads as well as stopping by GC and Sam Ash. Play a lot of different amps. The money you are looking to spend is a pretty decent amount. I know that the GC tends to have more in the way of used gear. The last time I was there they had a nice selection of used amps. I know that there have been a couple pretty good amps on CL, you just have to check.

An attenuator is generally useless unless you want power amp distortion.
Most big amps are made so you dont GET power amp distortion unless playing ridiculously loud. They work on preamp distortion, and thus, sound the same at any level. They just sound better when the amp can push the speaker.
No matter how much you crank it with an attenuator, it won't sound it's best unless you can get the speakers moving, which needs volume.
He'll be fine if he uses the master volume for it's intended purpose....To control the volume.
