Hey, i just bought a peavey 6505+ head and i am thinking about what cab should i buy. i don't have a lot of money left (obviously) so it shouldn't be something very expensive.
guitar is ltd h-1001 (EMG81 & 85) and i play metal/metalcore (drop c tuning).

i live in Europe, price should be around 600$ or 450eur. i think i will buy from thomann.de, unless local shops will have something more (i doubt they do).

at the moment i am considering these cabs:
http://www.thomann.de/gb/hugheskettner_matrix_box.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_g412s_vintage.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/peavey_valve_king_412_straight.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/laney_irt412_ironheart_straight.htm
http://www.thomann.de/gb/blackstar_ht_412b_cabinet_straight.htm (a little above the price range, but if it's really better than the others i could take it)

could someone help me with this or suggest any other cabs? thanks

edit: cab is for gigging

I'd look into used if you are short on cash.

the harley benton.

+1. it's plywood and it has good speakers. those are the two most important things in a cab (well, obviously being well-built and reliable are important too), and it has both. none of the other ones has both of those good points.

i haven't tried the 4x12 but the 2x12 is pretty good (especially for the price, it's ridiculously good for the price).

if you don't need the 4x12 the 2x12 version would work too.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

i'd probably prefer it. if you prefer straight cabs then go that way.

actually the straight may be better suited to what you want to play. a little more internal space in the cab.

I prefer the slant because it angle two of the speakers up towards you. It's nice to have on stage, especially if the house monitors suck or aren't even there.

+1

Also it just looks better to have the angled cab in a half stack.

It's been said to death, but yeah, get the HB. I've got the 212 and for the money, it really cannot be beaten.

I stick a 2x12 on top of a slant 4x12 cab. I have no problems hearing myself.

yeah. i mean you're near enough getting the cab for nothing. even if you hate the cab you have two (or four) good speakers for pretty much the same price as buying the two speakers separately. in the case of the 4x12 it's actually cheaper than buying the speakers separately at retail prices.

granted, you have to want v30s for it to be good value (and obviously you have no choice over what the impedance of the speakers is). but if you do... it's near enough a no-brainer.
