Projected figures by 2020

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-22796220

Quote by bbc
The number of people in the UK who will get cancer during their lifetime will increase to nearly half the population by 2020, a report has forecast.

Macmillan Cancer Support said the projected figure of 47% would put huge pressure on the NHS.

Yet those who do develop cancer will be less likely to die from the disease, the charity predicted.

Any particular reason given for this massive increase in cancer rates? Is England planning on putting some silly shit in the water?
My God, it's full of stars!

British people:

-Eat unhealthy. Oh god, the food.

-Consume lots of alcohol.

-Are pretty overweight.

-Consuming food with shit in it which we don't even know about. Same applies to other countries.

-Island genetics?

-Very little sun exposure, yet sensitive to sun.

-Not much into sports as a nation. (doing, not watching)

-Population growing older.

This and other reasons why I wanna leave this place.

Having said that, it would be interesting what the projection for other countries are, such as Spain, Germany and the US.

Aliens have attacked earth without our knowing, and the governments around the world sacrificed London to the aliens for off-world testing to stop them annihilating us all. a...byproduct of some of their more controversial testing is cancer

most people don't know this though, so don't let them read your minds.

Gotta die some day from something. I wouldn't worry about it too much just try and eat a bit healthier (actually research this don't just go for the stupid low fat options because fats aren't unhealthy.) and just try and lead a happy life.

No history of cancer in my family and healthy lifestyle means I'm probably going the way of both my grandfathers and having some kind of stroke at the age of ~70 due to excessive drinking and sleeping with women 20 years younger than me, long before cancer gets me for being old.
O.K.

Eating shitty food isn't mandatory; you can eat healthy

-Consume lots of alcohol.

Again, you don't have to drink

We have gyms.

Go to sunbeds (ye'd never catch me in one though. Shit's gay.)

You can exercise.

So, you don't really have to leave.

EDIT: Funny though. I was buying a salad one time, and some guy asked me if I had a rabbit, like that's the only reason why somebody would buy a salad.

EDIT 2: He was joking, of course, but still...

Cancer is one of the only things in life that scares me because you don't just die.. You get gradually weaker and weaker. If cancer just killed people instead of a slow death I wouldn't be as worried

Using sunbeds isn't the best idea if you're trying to avoid cancer..

Ireland is number two on that list. Doesn't exactly bode well. I remember reading a story about a town near where I'm from. They cancer rates in the town sky rocketed when toxic waste from a steel company was leaked into the harbour.

Well, between cancer and heart disease, there's a good chance very few will die strictly of 'natural' causes.

I think I've had testicular cancer since the age of 13. One of my balls is shaped like a half moon and has a very soft texture.

if you're serious why wouldn't you get that shit checked out?

testicular cancer is usually indicated by a hard painless lump though

It'll be fine, even though it doesn't feel right and I get abdominal pains from it occasionally.

Recently I've tried to stop eating meat and dairy products because of that. Meat and dairy consumption has been directly related to mortality rates due to cancer. Not all types of cancer, but a lot of what people die from.
