Hey, just checking to see if this is a fair trade. I've been trying to sell a Marshall Lead Plexi clone I made on craigslist for a few weeks now. I've got it priced at $800. Here's a link to the ad, http://harrisonburg.craigslist.org/msg/3808241846.html

Someone offered me a trade for either his Marshall TSL 100, or an oversized Mesa 4x12.

Now, I'm not going to keep either, unless I really like the sound of the Marshall, but I was thinking one of them might be easier for me to sell than the clone I made. So, is it worth it to trade, or should I just wait until I can get an actual buyer?

I would say that's definitely the low end for Mesa 412s. Ones in decent shape go for 500-700 around here.

I see them all the time used on the GC site for $400, but $500 would probably be a better normal pricing. I would not pay more than $500 for one used

So would it be fair to ask for the TSL and $100 cash?

Well there lies the dilemma. Yes you used good parts, but you built it not a pro. Not that you did not do a great job at all, but you have to look at it through the eyes of someone else "I'm trading my Marshall for an amp some random guy built".

If you like the Marshall trade if not hold out till you get a better deal/offer.

Ask politely if he's willing to pay any cash + the TSL for it. If yes, ask if a hundred would be ok. If he's not willing to pay any, that's when you're really gonna have to think about it.

I'd have to be turning a pretty good profit before I'd swap a nice Plexi clone for a ****ing TSL. A DSL maybe, but a TSL? No way.

Have you actually tried it and heard what it sounds like to you?
I've had a TSL for years, it's really balls, super fizzy.
I'm going to be building a plexi clone soon.
I'd keep the plexi unless you think the TSL sounds better to you

I have built a couple amps and successfully moddeded one. But I would never buy an amp built by any body else. Who knows what the f*** they did to it, would you be prepared to go to somebody else's wiring? I wouldn't.

The way I see it from his eyes is that he is taking a gamble.

When I built my amps I planned on keeping them forever knowing they wouldn't sell well.

Tsl's blow.

Personally I would keep what you got or wait for another offer or just keep it.
