I'm going to be purchasing a mandolin in a couple of weeks. Ever since I heard this song it made me love the mandolin. Do you guys know any songs for the mandolin that sound like it? (Sort of modern folk?).
Try listening to Dando Shaft or Jethro Tull.
It's a style that was born in England in the early 20th century, known later as "Progressive folk", inspired by the energy of irish folk.

Wiki has got a short but nice section on English Folk music where progressive folk is referenced:

All along this path I tread
My heart betrays my weary head
With nothing but my soul to save
From the cradle to the grave.

That song got me into mandolin too! A couple of more obvious hits are "Loosing my Religion" by REM, and "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart (John Peel played the mandolin on that.) I also love the riff from Spinal Tap's "stonehenge".

The Leveller do some great mandolin riff, such as these:
This one's on guitar, but has a similar feel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYcXjJXxqVM
