Looking for some ideas on 12 string acoustic-electrics. Not really wanting to go too expensive, just want something with good quality for the price. I played a Fender CD-160 in a music shop yesterday which I liked, $400 was just a little high. Could go used if I see one in good shape though.

Anyways, just thought I'd get some ideas from you guys on different models. I like having built in tuners in the acoustic-electrics, but that's not a deal breaker. I don't care much about the quality of the electronics...I won't be running it through an amp.

I'm surprised that a big arm hasn't appeared out of the amp and slapped you across the face.

If you're not dead set against used, I'd go that route. Not sure about your local store but mine has a few used upper end 12's that are under $300 and I'm constantly seeing 12's on CL all the time as well for under $300.

I'm definitely not against it if they're in good shape. I'll see if some shops around have any used ones. I've seen some decent looking Fenders and Seagulls around the $500-$600 range new. I'll look around if I can find something like that used.

I don't understand why not having an onboard tuner should be a deal breaker, considering you can buy a "Snark" in the 10 to 20 dollar range. They work fine. With a 12 string, (IMHO) you have to bump that ante up to 50 or 60 bucks and spring for a Planet Waves "Tru-Strobe". http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TunerStrobe/

As far as AE 12 strings go, this is about as cheap as you'll find new: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Hellcat12TA

Thanks for all the info! I know the tuner isn't that big of a deal lol, just kind of a convenience if it's there. The Tim Armstrong one looks nice. I'll definitely see if I can find one to play.
