I looked through the photos of a friend on facebook and noticed that he was into cosplay years and years ago. I totally judged him.

Not really, but I found it kinda weird, like super, super nerdy. However, it's nowhere near as bad as being a furry, I think.

But I did watch a documentary about two German girls going to Japan to take part in a cosplay competition and the effort and dedication they put into their costumers was quite impressive. Hell, if I had to do something like that, I wouldn't know where to start. So yeah, I consider it quite a strange but interesting hobby.

What about you guys?

Oh, and don't mind me just posting a Final Fantasy cosplay.

I appreciate when someone makes their cosplay outfit really detailed and stuff. I do find it pretty nerdy, but it can be coo.

It's infinitely preferable to the shows that the costumes are based on

In fact, if you want a good laugh, look for examples of awful cosplay where the cosplayer looks damn proud of him/herself.

Fat cosplayers are the best.

I forget her name, but there was this girl who did really good KH cosplays. I remember her for her Riku one the most, though. I'll try to find it.

EDIT: This isn't her, but this is when a cosplay is cool.

I wouldn't be able to do it. I'm not into stuff like that. But if they really like it, and can pull it off well, then all the more to them.

It can be cool if done right, but horrible if done wrong

This, however, is the dark side of cosplaying.

Don't see how it's any different. Other nerd fandoms who do cosplays contain members just as bad as the worst of the furry fandom.

And fursuiting is essentially cosplaying, as a character you created though.

No it isn't.

You brainless idiots obviously have know clue what a furry actually is.

And lol @ first user quoted for sporting a Sonic related avatar. As good as the sonic series is, Sonic fans are the most aspie of all nerd fandoms.

You're right, they're all roleplaying. Surely you can see the difference between a human dressing up as another human, compared to a human wearing a fox suit?

Pretty sure I know what a furry is.

They're like vegans.

They'll let you know for sure if they're a furry. They'll make it loud and clear.

They'll even remind you so that you don't forget, just in case. They'll spread all kinds of information about furryness and drill it into people's heads, that they are a furry.

Pretty sure furries are the worst.

I think it's pretty lame and nothing to mention on a first date, unless you do a really good one/are a hot girl. I barely know any anime characters, so it usually comes across as Japan-fetishism to me.

The average cosplayer (or lolita, and any other participant of similar sub-cultures) makes me cringe a little and say: "Ugghh..."

You know, I watched this other documentary on this dude who became a furry. 20 something year old guy. He made a character, made a costume and he'd walk around town wearing the costume. Big hit with the kids.

His parents refused to voice an opinion on his hobby.

His girlfriend left him when she found out.

However, he met other furries on the internet, so they'd meet up and go up and down the street in their rown wearing those costumes, each with their own character and personality, name, etc,. He also found another girlfriend who was a furry herself. Was it a bit weird? yeah. Did he seem happy? Yeah, happy as a pig in shit.

Shit, if people are into it and it makes them happy, that's awesome.

Furry porn is weird though.

Cosplaying goes a lot further than that. A lot further. It doesn't just exist with weeaboos.

As long as that guy doesn't let his furryism interfere with his life to the point of rendering him as a reject of society, I encourage him to continue doing so if he has fun with it.

I used to dislike fursuiting, more recently I've come to find it cute and funny sometimes. But for the love of god, don't have sex in the thing (especially if you are going to be entertaining children), and don't try to say you actually are the species your character depicts.

With regards to the porn: again, it applies to every other nerdy fandom that exists out there. Animetards, Bronies, Sonic fans (and ESPECIALLY Sonic fans), etc.

Because for furries, it's the majority who take it too far. I know you'll disagree, but just look here on UG. You and Axel, our resident furries, both have avatars related to it. Your user tag mentions you're a furry. Both of the quotes in your signature are concerning furries. You are not exactly subtle.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am one of the most accepting people you will meet on this site concerning the furry community; I don't think you guys are doing anything wrong or that it's even all that weird, but I do absolutely think that you guys are taking it too far. When more than 50% of your posts are about you being a furry, you're pretty much begging for people who disagree with you to pile on the abuse. And when you bring it up in places where it has not even been mentioned, it is not difficult to see why people bother you about it so much.

Most fandoms are not like this. People who like Sonic don't make their lives about Sonic. It's a hobby or a preference, not a fundamental part of their identity.
My signature lacks content. It is, however, blue.
