hey guys i have a mesa boogie studio preamp and one of the 3 reverb springs isn't attached. Does anyone know how to fix it? I'm selling this amp and id rather sell it with it fixed then the guy realising and has to get it fixed himself.

You have to replace the tank.

I've never seen the inside of a reverb tank... but can't you just look at the the other springs and then do to the unattached spring what is done to the other 2 attached springs?

Otherwise, can't you just advertise the amp with an unattached reverb spring and let the buyer decide if he wants to deal with it?

I'm not sure how much a new tank would cost, but if a replacement is in order, it sounds like it'll cost a penny.

No, kitty, you can't. They have a thin wire that passes through the little magnet at the end of the spring which is then attached to the anchor. Once it's broken you can't reconnect it. They invariably break flush with the magnet and there isn't enough left to work with. Once it's broken it's ****ed. You have to replace the tank.

Maybe. the output will be low and it probably won't sound very good. You may as well chop out the broken one and give it a go. It's no good the way it is.
