Hi I am looking for a few ideas and opinions on an idea, basically I am wanting to build or acquire a skull to fit an explorer headstock, just wondering what would fit as it would have to be easily removable to tune when needed and not to heavy either.

You mean like a cover? I think you'd need to make one. Some kind of plastic would probably be lightest.

Bassists don't hover on the forum day and night like guitarists. We've got lives to lead, music to play and whiskey to drink.

I'd rather go at my hands with a hacksaw than play lead guitar, and I'm only slightly exaggerating.

Yeah just like a cover I have seen them on upright basses before but they could be a lot heavier and sturdier thought about trying to get a skull mould big enough and using plastic to form two halves with some kind of hinge or strap to separate them when it needs to be removed.

Go check out a party/costume store for a molded plastic skull. Ebay might be worth a look also
