alright, im new to electric guitar just got a Fender Telecaster and it was used so the strings are feeling dirty. I bought some Ernie ball Beefy slinky strings the gauge is like 54 (low E) Is there anything i should know about re-stringing electric guitars?
and with this gauge do i have to go half step down Eb?? or can i still go standard tuning?

I played acoustic for a year so im still new to this and dont know if theres any difference

You can tune to standard E but it will be very tight. Normal E for electric is a 42 or a 46. I use a 52 on one of my guitars. I personally wouldn't want to go heavier than that, but you can. I also use a 38 on another one of my guitars. It's mostly all about what sort of tension you want to have.

I like 10-52 for E and Eb.
To each his own.

Try 'em, and if you don't like 'em, change 'em.
Strings are cheap unless you live in Australia.
