Hello people of the UG forum. For a good length of time now I have been considering buying a new high end guitar. Any experience with listed brands or suggestion of other is appreciated.

Ideally I'd like to spend between $2,250 and $3,250.
I'm looking for a super strat of sorts, but really any shape that is a double cutaway and not too pointy is fine.
Non-locking tremolo
25-25.5" scale
14" or 16" radius. compound works too.
HSH pickups prefered but HH is acceptable with a 5 way switch and coil tapping/splitting.
Mahogany body and neck, rosewood or Pau Ferro fretboard.
I play Jazz, funk, blues, fusion, rock, shred and a wee bit of metal and country.
Some of my favorite guitar players are Frank Zappa, John Frusciante, Guthrie Govan, Shawn Lane, Jerry Garcia and Nuno Bettencourt. For my jazz playing I mostly listen to other instruments so I'm not interested in a specific tone for that.

I've been considering a Suhr M7, a PRS custom 24 as well as various full custom options.
I currently play through a JCM900 with a 1960a. I use numerous pedals.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

PRS Custom 24? Pretty much described that to a T.

Not gonna be easy to find super strats with non-locking trems.

You could possibly go custom, or go semi-custom with that budget though, depending on whereabouts you're located. Is that USD?

Somewhat near Chicago. Yes, USD. And indeed, no matter how much I try I usually just get annoyed with locking tremolos.

Are you willing to go used?

I asked because I thought about an Ibanez SA Prestige as an option, but the only one I know if is HSS, not HSH. Ibanez SA1260 http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/SA1260

Still, just something a little different, throwing options on the table.

With that budget, I'd go custom. Specifically, Jon Kammerer, a luthier in the Chicago area.

I already have several of his guitars- an acoustic, 2 hollowbodies, a semihollow, and a solidbody- and they're top notch. With your bankroll, I'd probably go for one of his Flag or Camo guitars, or possibly a unique design.

Thank you both. Those Vigier and LeGrande Custom legend guitars look pretty tempting. Jon's work is pretty amazing though.

Given that I have 5, i think you know how I feel about JKGs.

that said...

Vigiers are stupendous. I have been wanting one of their Surfreters for the better part of a decade- its a fretless based on their Excalibur design, used by guys like Shawn Lane and Bumblefoot. Got to play one at the same guitar show as the first JKGs I tried out.

US Masters are also high on my G.A.S. list, though I'm aiming for their version of the SG, the Hornet. I have not tried one out, though. Still, can't find any bad reviews, and for a company as old as they are...

Screw your bases. If she doesn't let me go elbow deep in her ass on the first date, it wasn't meant to be.

Basically every single thing you listed a PRS Custom 24 can do. Of course there's other options that people far more knowledgeable about super strats than I will know about, but the Custom 24 sounds like a good option that ticks off everything you seem to want. They're versatile as hell too!

I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
