So to sum it up shortly, a couple of days ago I was doing great. I could play a lot of technical songs and had built up a lot of skill. Then I had a concussion. Now, the most complex thing I can play is "Loud and Clear" by Title Fight. Just a serious question, will this last forever? After I heal, will I be back to normal, or will I have to start all over again? Thanks.

I'm no doctor but I have had a few concussions. Best advice, see a doctor.

You were concussed a few days ago? You should have been told to mentally rest. Your brain has been injured. Again, your brain has been injured. You would expect you bicept to heal instantly at full strength. My advice, take a week off. Try it again. If it still bothering you see a doctor.

This. Take a break. Read a book. Listen to some music. Keep yourself occupied, but keep away from demanding processes like gaming or guitaring. Come back in a week, warm up some, and see where you stand.

Yes, you need a scan done to make sure there isn't any permanent/immediate damage. That could be something as small as a ruptured vessel, causing your brain to bleed, and resulting in death, if not properly treated. That's obviously a worst case scenario.

Basically, your brain is a complex structure that is organized in a particular way, a concussion disrupts that structure, similar to scrambling an egg. It can take days to weeks, depending on the severity of the concussion, to realign that structure. Until then, you are useless.

Take a break, do nothing mentally stressing, like playing guitar. Let that structure naturally realign itself. See a doctor. I'm no doctor, just a senior biology major in college, while I know the basics, a doctor knows a LOT more. If you've been concussed you need to see one.

What an insightful post that not only cut right to the heart of the matter, but illuminated the solution brighter than a 1000 suns! I have far more knowledge now!
