Hey guys in in the market for a new amp,

Essentially my budget is around 500 quid, and ranging form used to new i can get all of the mentioned amps.

I was just owndering if anyone had any advice on what was best. The vetta ii seems like a good all in one option, as im in a reasonably constantly gigging metal band, however im not sure if its now a little outdated.

All help would be great

Depends. What sort of sound are you going for?

Ideally like an all out warm metal tone, but i would also like the oppertunity to clean it up ok and get like a cruchy marshall like tone if needed,

Most of my playing is in drop b, so distortion needs to be heavy but tight

In terms of the Vetta II being outdated, sure technically it is, but it still sounds great. I'm using one as my main amp as of current. It has loads of sounds available and if you're willing to tweak then you'll be able to get your sound. That said if you dont need 78 amp models and 300 watts of power then its best to get one of the other amps.
Speaking of the vetta though, are you looking for the head or the combo?

Can you find a used Peavey JSX in your area?

Get a JSX if you can find one. It is much better than the others you are looking at

I have the 60 watt Ironheart head that I run through a Mesa 2x12 with V30's that is incredible. Kind of has a Marshallish tone and is really bright, but is very modern and in your face. I can't speak highly enough of it, one of the best amps I've ever played through in my life. I think the guys from Killswitch Engage are using them right now if looking into their tone would interest you, but I don't know what kind of metal you play since that's such a broad genre. The Ironheart can handle about anything though and has a really nice clean channel too.

i love the killswitch tone, I jsut like a little flexibility

I love the tone of the Bugera, but i think that lacks flexibility too

Isnt Peavey 3120 a rebranded JSX? Or was it XXX? I dont remember but I have an itch somewhere back in my brain that tells me so.

+1 to JSX. The 3120 would be the best off your list.

5150 = 6505
5150 II = 6505+
XXX = 3120
JSX = XXX II

Don't ask why, I don't know, it's dumb. XXX II should have been 3120 II or 3120+.

^+1 311 has it covered

Stay away from the Bugera, they have too many reliability issues for most to consciously recommend them in good faith. (I have a 333, yes it sounds like the XXX/3120 peavey, but it is built horribly cheap)

LOL

TS - consider the Vypyr 60/120 tube amps too. The more I play it the more I like it. I don't gig though. There is a tad bit of 'fakeness' for lack of better way to say it as it is not a strait up tube amp but the other advantages of the amp far outweigh that.

Jet City 100HDM, and Jet Cities in general when they happen to be in stock couple of times per year, are quite a bargain at Thomann.
