I have a chance to get either Pod 2.0 or Boss GE-7 EQ pedal for 50€ used. I'm not really sure which one I should buy, if either. And I cant justify buying both just now as much as I want to, and I'm cant be sure if they are available anymore after two weeks when my next payday is. If they are then it simplifies things.

With Line6 Pod 2.0 I'd get quite decent amp models (afaik Spider Valve uses Pod 2.0 models, no?) and I could use it as preamp to my heads when connected directly the FX Return, for some different flavours of sounds and distortions. And also it doubles as fantastic portable rig. But will I get bored of it? Does it get much use if/when I get better tube amp, IE Peavey XXX or Engl Fireball or something?

EQ pedal on the other hand is future proof, it will stay no matter what amp I use as its always useful for shaping my sound. Also as a bonus it works as clean boost and I mean really clean without stuff associated with tubescreamers.

What to do, what to do...

In my experience the Boss EQ is pretty meh. Get the POD, and then get a Fish and Chips EQ pedal if you still have the EQ itch later. Better yet, save up for the MXR 10 band if you really want to get a proper EQ.

Considering I'm a bedroom player I fear MXR is bit overkill. I have been looking for Fish & Chips for some time but I havent found one around here. I'd have to order one overseas from ebay but then the shipping fees kill it.

*edit* Why do you think its meh by the way?

Noisy. I mean, it's a Boss pedal so it'll survive a nuke, but it just noisy and nothing special. Since you're a bedroom player, go for the POD.

Considering you already have JCM2000 and Krank AND Pod still gets some use, I am looking forward to mine.

Hi, felt like helping you for a change. You can find a Fish & Chips EQ pedal for under $20 on the Guitar Center website if you search under used gear (shipping might be a problem though). I'd love to hear some of your playing and critique it myself. Good luck.

Old thread and this sale fell through due to lack of communication from seller. I have my eyes on new things though.

^^You will never regret an MXR 10-band. I've owned a Boss GE-7 as well and it was noisy. The MXR is silent and just better overall. I am also a "bedroom" player but play at stadium volumes at times . I feel that my EQ helps me get cranked tone at a much lower volume as well.
