Or more specifically...Palma de Mallorca or Hamburg.

-I can speak German, English, Portuguese and good level of Spanish, so job wise it should be possible, even for Spain. (Goan' be an optom in 2 years w00t)
-I want to leave the UK. That's 100% decided.
-We'd probably be able to afford a place to live in either of the two.
-I've done some research and come down to either living in Hamburg or Palma, and this is why:

Hamburg.

-Has nearly 2 million people.
-Is said to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
-Has so much shit going on. So. Much.
-Germany's got the best economy in the EU at the moment.
-Unemployment is at around 5ish %.
-People are colder, but can be really good friends once you have them.
-6 weeks holiday at work.
-Warmer houses in winter.

Palma De Mallorca.

-City has half a million, there's a million on the whole island.
-About 20 million tourists visit the island every year, maybe more.
-Spain's unemployment is at 25%, maybe more, maybe less.
-Spain's economy is pretty bad right now.
-Amazing beaches, better climate.
-Colder houses in winter.
-The city is nice.
-People are relatively more laid back and warm.

Let me know what you guys think. I'd like to hear different opinions.

I'd go with germany based on what you said though,a strong economy is going to make it a lot easier to get settled in and support youself
It's over simplified, So what!

Hamburg. No question.

Spain is good for hot women and good food, but that's it.

Jesus fuck not Palma, nobody will ever take you seriously

Also this.

Mallorca is like mini-Germany anyways, so might as well go to the real thing.

My friends that spent time in Spain all had a blast. So I voted that.

Well, let's see. One's the #6 economy in the world, and the other one is Spain.

That's pretty dumb to decide to live somewhere on that though, it's not like you can't visit there on vacation which is much better than living there permanently.

yeah but (to an english person's sensibilities anyway) spaniards are ill-mannered and have a poor concept of personal space.

/generalisation.

Go to Hamburg.

You can go somewhere chill like spain later on when you've got a nice pile of cash and enough experience and seniority in your field to run your own business or something and take it easy by hiring minions to do everything.

I voted Hamburg but you should totally go to Spain cuz the weather and food is better

I may have, I just wanted to narrow it down a bit more.

Man, I don't wanna piss people off, so I won't even start, but I could probably go on a half hour to an hour rant about it over a beer.

I've just spent 10 days in Hamburg and I have seen some of the most attractive women in a long time. I don't know if it's a regional thing, but I can't say the German stereotype about German is correct at all.

Well Spains economy is shit, and you want a job, so the odds of finding one in Spain is much lower compared to Germany. And even if you do find a job of your occupation, you'll still have a higher chance of losing that job in Spain, because of the economy.

Germany all day.

While on the subject of unemployment, if you do get employed in Spain, I imagine the people won't take very kindly to a foreigner taking a job in their shitty economy.

Germany, just because it seems obvious.

A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.'

You'll get the chance to put the knife in.'

Thanks guys. I have actually made up my mind last week about Hamburg. I was just wondering if it sounded stupid, but 89% sounds pretty clear. Most seem to be arguing the economy, which I wasn't too worried about because I've already got in touch with a few people in Spain. But, regardless, the economy is in an awful state and the state is corrupt.

We've looked at houses here, and I'm gonna have to sell my body quite a bit in order to afford one, but the plan's to buy there, live there in 2 years, and if Spain still sounds good we'll rent the house out here and use the money to rent in Palma.

Man, I don't even wanna fly back home tomorrow. :/

Wait, buy a house in Hamburg?

That is madness. That's some of the most ridiculously overpriced land and real estate in all of Europe, bro.
