Hello Pit. The time for a new Electronic album is upon us. However, this one is gonna be a bit different from the previous releases…

This time around we’re creating a series of genre-specific EP’s – this way quality will be higher and you the listener will have a better idea of what you’re getting in to when you first tentatively hit ‘play’.

The aim is to produce 5 EP’s consisting entirely of Electronic music made by us here on UG. Those releases will be of the following genres:

•House
•Dubstep
•Drum & Bass
•Trance
•Other

Each genre producing its own, separate release, but all to be released on the same day.

SUBMISSIONS:

All submissions, regardless of genre are to be made by PM to me, or within this thread. When you submit I will NEED:

-WAV or 320 MP3 download link for your submission
-Genre
-Artist Name

These will then be compiled by genre and considered for the corresponding EP. All sub-genres are welcome. The ‘Other’ EP will consist of music that doesn’t fit in any of the others – Industrial, Ambient, Experimental etc.

Multiple submissions are accepted - as long as they are in different genres.

If you have any questions about the ins and outs, ask here or PM me.

For those of you who are perhaps new to Electronic music, or unsure of what makes up a Dubstep or House song, here’s some quick guidelines to each genre, setting you on the path to getting involved.

Recommended listening – Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Swedish House Mafia
Normally 125-128 bpm
4 to the floor Kick pattern (that is, a Kick on every beat)
Off beat Hi Hat pattern

Recommended listening – Phaeleh, Digital Mystikz, Skrillex
140 bpm
Half time drums
Big Sub bass is what this genre is about

Recommended listening – Rudimental, Enei, Netsky
Hovers around 175 bpm, can go a touch either side
Use of breakbeats
Reese basses (look it up)

Recommended listening – Myon & Shane 54, Markus Schultz, Armin van Buuren, W&W
127-140 bpm
Lots of atmosphere and lush progressions
Rolling basslines
4 to the floor kick patterns

Fuck man, it's up to you

Nice. Real instruments are obsolete.

You could always pick up your guitar, write some lush chords and throw it atop some huge basses and banging drums. Real instruments are just as welcome as the torrented VST's I'm sure everyone will be using (which is very naughty of them, of course).

Even if you don't think you're an Electronic producer, I'd love to hear you guitar-heads experiment and try something new. No reason you can't marry the electronic and physical

I'm going to make trance with real instruments because they are superior.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

I will do something to fit into the 'other' category, because not only do I think real instruments are outdated, but so are conventional music styles.

You know I'll be submitting something to this. I might go back to my Trance roots for this one.
A polar bear came to talk to me the other day....
...But then I realized...
...I don't own a coat, let alone firecrackers

Oh Ableton, your ease of use tricks us into thinking we can manage your powers, but when we begin to try actually using you...oh man...

I'm definitely gonna try to be a part of this. My hard drive failed a few days ago and I lost some progress on some other non-electronic based recordings, but I have Suite back on here, so that's a plus. Category will probably be Other, but that's up to whomever reviews the piece.
Stuff that I bought:

Washburn WM24V
Raven RG100 Amplifier
Zoom G1X Multi-Effects Pedal

how do you define a guitar for a female?
how about one that whines and has trouble with feedback?

The fact that trance is 4th on the list and not first makes me sick
You hit 'em and they get back up
I hit 'em and they stay down

Here's a general idea for a song I might submit. Any ideas, critiques, or does anyone want to collab?

You have some good music here, if you wanted I could help you flesh it out and add parts to it as a collab partner

Dope. Mad dope.

Is there a place where you can get vocal stems for remixing tracks? I don't know how all these DJs make remixes, vocal tracks are so hard to find :/

tell me what you want and I'll try to find it. I have a few thousand tracks.

Want to sign up for this but it's been so long since I made an electronic track I've forgotten how to do anything.

Ah well, because of the source I shan't put it in the OP. And it would be awful of any of you to acquire those acapellas and use them, absolutely dreadful

I've got like six or seven of these, so many repeats but that's what external hard drives are for right?

Lights is widely available. also you can always use covers if they're good. filter them a bit and you've got a cool remix anyway

Daft Punk thinks otherwise.

Can't make any guarantees because I currently don't have any ideas, but there is a possibility of me making a House or DnB (think Igorrr, though that may land me on Other) track for this.

I, in all walks of life, defer to Crunk But I'm a jobless bum out of school so it's just easier for me to run this.

My submission is shaping up to be a dark DnB tune. I hope some of you who are considering making something for the Other EP will maybe try taking the things you like and applying them in the context of one of the other genres. Sure to get some interesting results.

My favorite kind of dubstep includes real instruments. If anyone is trying to write a melodic dub song and wants a guitarist to collaborate, I'm down.

I was thinking about doing one of her non-single tracks, but I guess that would be harder to get a hold of. Probably one of the more chilled out tracks she has.

it is a shame that she is used so much because her voice just fits so well with everything
