David Wankeron thinks that it's for the good of Britain to block (adult and child) porn from the internet in order to "help the children".

He didn't decrease education costs or education cuts.

He didn't decrease bus fare costs or train fare costs.

He's blocking porn. For the children.

It's good that he's taking care of the things that matter.

I mean, it's not as if pedos know ways around google or bing.

Shit, am I living in China? Fuck me.

Need to google something about sexual health? Tough.

Wanting kids to get less porn is all well and good, but this is by far the worst way to approach this.

Anyone who's ever used a device with any form of parental/adult filter before will know just how stupid and imprecise they are. It's just not possible and will end up affecting normal internet users far more than anyone looking for porn.

EDIT: Also, saw this photo on twitter. Brilliant.

This will be just like when they blocked the Pirate Bay and I had to spend a full 2 seconds finding a proxy.

I also think it's worth mentioning the issues of internet censoring. I'll be happy when I leave this country.

Yeah, let's get back to the time when kids had to dig through dumpsters and steal from shops to get their porn!

Because porn not being legally available totally kept all of us from getting to it when we were kids.

Pretty much this. Paedophile's will just be on some Torguard/deep web shit whilst the common layman will not be able to access normal (or at least just legal if not normal) porn so easy.

I don't think a filter is the best way to approach this. Have new porn sites register under a .xxx domain and let current ones expire.
#12
Wait for the "adult content filtering" to add betting websites and probably some forums to the filters which will piss off unsuspecting people.

This seems like a good idea if people are so worried about it.

I'm honestly surprised that isn't already a thing.

I don't believe this is even about porn. It's a first step to total censorship and removal freedom of the internet and they go straight for the most controversial. One day, any derogatory comment about the leadership of this country or government will be removed to give the impression of the nation's full support of the government.

I love how David Cumeron lets his bestest buddy Rupert Murdoch keep his page 3 though. Who even buys those apart from truck drivers?

So how is whether something is considered pornographic determined? To what extent do these criteria reach? Are anatomical diagrams pornographic? What of fine art? Film? Sexual education?

In reference to the ban on depictions of (fictitious) rape: Where does one draw the line there? Is the scene where rape occurs in 'A Clockwork Orange' now illegal? What of 'Trainspotting', which depicts sexual activity with someone under the age of consent?

The criteria for determining what is and isn't obscene are not stated. This is because they are, throughout history and without exception, subject to the whims and aesthetic judgments of those than enact and support them. There is no underlying logic or even a set of clear ethical principles to justify their censorship.

The Internet is not here to babysit your children folks, when are parents gonna realise it's their own ****ing fault their daughter's oversexed or their son's too aggressive? If you leave your children unsupervised on the net, allowing them to read and watch whatever they please, then you're a ****ing muppet deserving of the negative consequences.

In all seriousness though, where does this end? Would sex stories be considered porn? DC's gonna have to block people from purchasing Fifty Shades of Grey then surely? ******ed policy won't get far.

Now British men are going to have to deal with the indignity that is looking at naked British women.

If you whacked off and filmed & streamed it while doing so as protest, it would count as "extreme pornography". You'd be on a par with Thich Quang Duc.

Porn in the UK to be blocked - unless asked not to. I'm sorry that is the most British thing I've seen all month, "by state mandate I'm here to turn off the porn, unless you don't want me to of course"

If enough people do it, he'll get classed as porn and then get banned hopefully.

The stupid thing is there is no legal definition of pornography in the UK, although obscene materials are those deemed "likely to corrupt". Since there is no way to assess in a probabilistic fashion the chances of corruption, or whatever corruption even means in this instance, they have scope to de-facto censor any material they choose to.
