Finally got to write some music again! It's not finished yet, mostly looking to get some feedback. Also what genre would you say this is?

Could not export to GP5 and MIDI export sounds odd in a couple places. Any tips on how to fix it? Could it be because I used anything weird by accident in GP6?

Download: MIDI

Download: GPX

Thanks all!

You do know you can just add the attachments to the forum post instead of hosting it somewhere else?

And yeah, get GP5. Barely anyone here uses GP6.

To the song itself: Sounds like Zonaria on morphine. Everything's really slow and ponderous and the riffs are really average and far far too repetitive.

So kinda like this:

But without being as catchy. Basically, it could work as a song, but it needs more than just the riffs and the other small bits you added, like a well planned melody line.

dont listen to these guys , there are enough people with guitar pro 6 , including me

anyway here's my crit

Intro:
Kinda ok i guess nothing to interesting riff or melody wise.

ok at bar 20 it gets repetitive and boring and doesnt drive the song forward.

and than a sudden stop ? wut ? just cut bars 27 to 30 they are useless.

bars 31-58
meh nothing interesting again , just same old , lead comes in , meh

piano comes in , way to loud compared to the rest of the instruments , i suggest toning it down , has an interesting melody though.

bars 59-82
actually love this part nice and calm sound , the lead just ****s it up completely though , utterly horrible.

nice calm outro , nice

id say you have the most trouble writing interesting melodies and riffs , and rhtym was almost non existant as far as i can hear , just full note chords mostly.

oh and dont worry about the genre , just write whatever you love to write.

6/10

can you crit Unsung Heroes for me ? its in my sig.

I can't stand GP5 anymore, myself.

GP6 is so much better in so many ways.

But each to his own.

On topic, yeah it's a bit boring.

Mix the volumes of your tracks better.

A beter lead is definitely advised for the part near the end.

Don't listen to them, GP6 rocks, but you need time to understand how it works, because you missed some cool features GP6 can give you.

The 1st verse was really not interesting. The second one starting at the bar 31 is much better, I like it, but it's a bit repetitive.
The outro at 84 was very cool! Love the piano line.
Add some variety, choruses!

Thanks a lot for the critiques so far.

I agree that the leads are weak, I was thinking the same before I posted it, I need to work a lot on that.

Considering I could not compose anything bigger than a couple bars a couple weeks ago this is a big improvement for me. I tried to make more interesting drum patterns in this song too, still don't know when to use toms though..

Regarding GP, I actually think GP6 is pretty awesome, the UI looks a lot less cluttered and more organized compared to the old one. My friend that uses GP5 hates the new one though.. I wish they added proper MIDI keyboard support and MIDI->WAV export.

Sure, I'll write a crit for it soon. I actually already heard it when you posted and it's pretty awesome.

I listened to this in RSE mode and it sounds broken and is missing a lot of notes. If you listened in RSE please try in MIDI, thanks.
