looking for a new cab to replace my acoustic 4x12 120watt cab. There is nothing wrong with it, it's just on the low end of the spectrum and I'm looking for an upgrade. I'm looking for somewhat of a jack of most trades... Id like something that can handle high gain detuned metal at high volumes, but also have useable clean tones, and passable vintage tones.... If there is such an animal. I play mostly metal and pop punk... so I want a cab thats great at that, and still works for everything else. It will be for live, studio, and practice use.

bands- log, atilla, asking alexandria, thy art is murder, pantera...On the pop punk side- a day to remember, four years strong, blink.... Im not looking to emulate anyone's sound exactly, just to come close to those tones while having a sound of my own.

budget new or used is around $500, but would love to spend considerably less than that if theres a great bang for buck cab out there. I've seen used marshal 1960, mesa boogie, and peavey 6505 cabs for around that price... any recommendations are welcomed thanks.

Just buy a Behringer. They're exactly the same as Marshall/Mesa/etc, but they're way cheaper. I'm pretty sure Killswitch only uses Behringers in the studio.

Errrr no. IIRC size of the cab matches Marshall cabs but materials are worse (IIRC particle board). Though what makes them not so hot are the speakers. Behringers with Jensen speakers arent half bad for what you pay if you can still find one but nowadays they use Bugera speakers.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

I LOVE Orange but honestly couldn't tell you what makes their cabs worth $150 over the Krank cab.
