Not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes:

I know that Hammett uses a mixture of Randall and Mesa Boogie amplifiers, which I'm assuming is where he gets his distortion. But in terms of tone, has anyone had any luck mimicking his clean/dirty sounds?

I'm thinking basically in terms of amp settings. Any help would be appreciated...haven't seen much online about it.

He doesn't use a lot of mids. I don't think he's really used any mids since 1984. Gain levels aren't stupidly high either. Enough to make it sound big without losing clarity.

Use the settings thread in Guitar Gear and Accessories. There's a link in the Rules and Resources sticky.
