Since I'm more of an acoustic player the only electric guitar I have is a Fender Starcaster that I got off of Amazon for about $150 when I first started playing. Now, I'm in a band and I need a new electric guitar. I play a little bit of everything, from soft rock, to prog, to grunge, and I need a guitar that will cover all of that. I was thinking of getting an Epiphone 339 Pro, but I'd like to get some help here. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I like the idea of the 339 though I've never had my hands on one. I'd quite like one myself especially with how great the quality of Epiphones is these days.

If you want a hollowbody epiphone should be good. I never tried the 339 but I did try a different hollowbody from them and was really liking the sound of it

My budget is under $1000, but I'd like to stay on the cheaper side. I need a guitar that I can use well enough when playing small shows and practicing and still sound good.

Lots of excellent options under $1K: besides the big names- Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, Ibanez, PRS, etc.- check out Godin, Reverend, G&L Tribute, Fret-King, Fernandes, Malden. Some are even on sale right now.

There are also some new brands that should be good, and I'm planning on adding to my collection, like Electra and Dean Zelinsky Private Label.

Why, yes, I am a lawyer- thanks for asking!

Log off and play yer guitar!

Strap on, tune up, rock out!
