I currently play a Marshall JCM800 50W 2204 amp into a Mesa 2x12 Rectifier Cab with vintage 30s.

I have the opportunity to buy a Marshall 4x12 1960 Classic Cab with 2 Vintage 30s and 2 Greenbacks for $500 (I would sell my Mesa if I bought this).

For reference, my band plays classic/hard rock and blues rock (no metal)

Time is short for me to buy the cab so I thought I'd get some feedback from teh community. So...what would you do?

Thanks

I'd get the 1960.

EDIT: Thought about it for a minute, changed my mind. $500 is way too much money for a 1960. Don't know what I was thinking.

Update: Found another guy who's willing to trade his JCM 800 4x12 cab (with t75 celestions) straight up for the Mesa 2x12. Of course I'd have to go check out the condition. Better deal?

I'd do it if they are in comparable condition. Well, I'd actually run both cabs but not many people are as into 6x12 as I am.

Still a bad trade, IMO

Admittedly this varies a lot depending on where you're located. But I've seen JCM800 4x12s for $350, good condition. A Mesa 2x12 can get you $400.

I'd scour Craigslist for 1960s - they're really common, and can be had cheaper than your Mesa is worth if you look around.
