The VR is the hybrid-valve reactor version of the AC15, and the C1 is the full tube amp.

I was wondering if it was worth shelling out the extra 400 dollars for the C1 if I've been playing guitar for 2 years with a Vox MINI 3, and factoring in that I'm 16, and I'm broke, so its going to take me about a month to save up for the VR and 2 months for the C1. Also, I'm only going to use this amp in my room, and I'm not going to take it out gigging.

The guitars that I have are a G&L ASAT Classic, PRS Santana SE, and a Parker PDF 100, and I like playing music like the Beatles,Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin, The Who, and the Rolling Stones.

Thanks for helping!

I've heard that the VRs are even worse than the VTs.

HEY NOW.
The VTs are good.
The VR however is a steaming piles of shit.

TS, get the C1 or you will never get laid. EVER.

That's what I said.

I mean, you would EXPECT something with the AC name on it to be good, so in that light...

If you really wanna save the money and not get a real ac, then get something similar, not vox's cheapo hybrid thing. Bugera has a clone I think. And the v22 also sounds voxy to me. Crate v33 has a vox vibe but its grittier.

The Laney VC30 is pretty great. Not very easy to find in the US though.

Just get the C1. Used preferrably. With an Alnico Blue. You can find them used for cheap most places.

Hold up guys, don't just joint the bandwagon saying "go straight for the tube".

Being a VOX enthusiast, I can tell you the VR is better than the VT in my humble opinion. The VR's are more of a re-creation of the AC30's and 15's, whereas the VT's are just an all-purpose modelling.

In terms of whether you should get the C1 or VR, I'd say neither. Remember he said he will NOT BE GIGGING and will only be using in his bedroom.

Using an AC15 is not practical for best tone in a bedroom setting. They are made to be cranked.

What's your budget? It'd be more practical if you went for a nice modelling amp like a Vypyr.

The AC15 will not sound great at such low volumes.

^^ I missed that it is for home practice only. I agree the AC15 might be a little extreme, but the AC4 might be the answer since TS wants a Vox AC type tone

The AC15 has a master volume though, and the 4 does not. OD won't be achievable at whisper quiet volumes.

Everybody here that knows me, knows I am a major Vox fanboi.
I still say VT or AC15/AC4 over the VR.

Personally, I would take the AD30VT. Or the AC15 or 4 over the VR.
Probably The AD30VT because its more versatile.

Isn't it switchable to 0.25 watts?

Edit: Actually how about an used 2 watt Night Train head with a cheap 1x12" cab (like Jet City)? The NT2 has 2-band EQ and a gain knob.
